For thirty two years, Brooklands was the home of motor racing in Great Britain where a week never went by without something happening at the circuit, and the enthusiast knew they could visit there at any time without fear of disappointment. The atmosphere of transport, whether they be fully blown racing machines, every day saloons, motor cycles or even the occasional bus, mixed with the aeroplanes which used the interior of the track, has been fully captured in this book by the use of over 200 fascinating photographs, selected mainly from the vast collection of photographs housed in the National Motor Museum by the Museum's Head Librarian Nick Georgano. From construction of the circuit and early Edwardian racing, with the likes of Mercedes cars and Napiers, through the light car and cycle car competitions with GNs, Singers, Austin 7s, and on to the great races with Bentleys, Bugattis, Maseratis and ERAs battling away, this book offers a interesting view of events.
