This impressive register is the work of enthusiasts: Bohuslav Klein, Roland Saunier and Kees Jansen, all share passion for the Type46 and had a dream to gather information on the surviving examples of La Petit Royale. The book records over fifty surviving examples of the Type 46 listed in chassis number order. Giving delivery dates, coachwork and first owner details, together with further owners, the cars’ general history is also recorded and illustrated. There are many fine examples of the coach builders art illustrated with period photographs, by some of the leading names of the times such as Binder, Chapron, De Villars, Figoni & Falaschi, and Van Vooren, just to mention a few. Sales brochures, magazine adverts, road test and technical matters are also covered, with reproduction of the sales brochure and specification sheets, technical leaflets on the clutch system and carburettor, along with road test data from period magazines such as The Autocar and The Motor. To help complete this fine publication the authors have also compiled a chapter entitled ‘Those were the days’, in which a selection of photographs and articles taken in period of various cars are published. Bugatti Motoring Adventure, the story of two Dutch owners and their love of worldwide touring, helps to demonstrate the usability of the cars, all of which are listed in the final section of the book, being a complete list of Factory produced cars when new.
