Audi Sport World of Rallying 6 sees various changes in format. Since this series of annual books was first published in 1979, it has become the longest running annual book covering rallying. The series began with two authors, Martin Holmes and Hugh Bishop. In this year Hugh is not so closely connected though he is still helping behind the scenes, indeed included is a feature dedicated to the work which he and other photographers carry out each year. This year also introduced a new sponsor, Audi Sport. From 1980 to 1982 Rothmans supported the series as sponsor and in 1983 they undertook the publication of the book as well. Contains within these pages are: Development of the Lancia Rally, Pictures from Hugh Bishop, the Rally cars in my career by Walter Rohrl – a look back on the 1984 Audi team drives and the early cars he used in competition: Opel Ascona, Kadett, Lancia Stratos, etc..A day in the life of Audi Sport - a behind the scenes look at the everyday work involved in preparing a top position team. The results information is of course one of the reasons that this series of books is so well thought of, giving overall results for the Monte Carlo, International Swedish Rally, Rallye de Portugal, Kenya and the Safari Rally, France with the Tour de Corse, Greece and the Acropolis Rally, Rally of New Zealand, Rally of Argentian, Finland and the 1000 Lakes Rally, the Rally Sanremo of Italy, the Cote d’Ivoire Rally on the Ivory Coast and finally the Lombard RAC event in Great Britain. Details of world class drivers and their past event results, with competitors such as: Pentti Airikkala, Markku Alen, Bernard Darniche, Anders Kullang, etc. Rally Car Prototype Car Specifications: Citroen Visa B, Citroen Visa D (Dangel), Citroen Visa K, Citroen Visa M (Mathiot), Citroen Visa S (Strakit), Citroen BX P (Politechnic), Citroen BX M, Peugeot 205 Turbo 16, Mazda RX7 4WD, Ford Escort RST.
