This book is based upon ‘Dokumentation einer Automobilmarke’ by Monaca and Uwe Hucke, which was originally published in 1976. From that firm basis Julius Kruta, along with Uwe Hucke, took to the challenge and produced this fine updated publication Milan to Molsheim. Totalling just over 800 pages, the book covers the various car Types from the Prewar and Post war Molsheim cars, then on to the Artioli cars, the EB110, EB112 and the Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S with the Veyron and Veyron Grand Sport. Almost 1000 illustrations have been sourced, many from the personal archive of Roland Bugatti, which were acquired by Hucke, but the most astonishing achievement is that the book features less than 10 photographs that were not taken in period. The structure of the book is strictly chronological referring to the different types, every new chapter beginning with the technical characteristics of the type in question. It is not only Bugatti car production that is covered; there are also details on the Bebe Peugeot designed by Bugatti, Bugatti aero engines and 16 Cylinder engines, along with chapters on Ettore’s family and childhood. There are racing drivers such as Robert Benoist and Guy Bouriat, to mention just a couple, along with a selection of projects such as the Rail Car and Type 72 cycle motor engine, and a factory insight, with the recollection of Maurice Sampson on his visit to the Bugatti factory in 1930. A wealth of information amassed in a single volume, with a limited print run of 1000 copies with a further 50 Special Edition copies bound in Leather and numbered 1-50.
