Len Shaw is one of that band of gifted amateurs who were the backbone of British motor sport in the 1950s. As a founder member of The Hagley and District Light Car Club, he competed in trials and speed events in the 1930s. A skilled driver, the success he gained after the war driving his own MG YA in rallies such as the 1950 Daily Express Rally, 1951 RAC Rally and Tulip Rally, earned him a place in the 1953 Abingdon-based works team at the wheel of an MG YB (which he later bought) and enabled his skill to shine in competing in the 1953 RAC Rally, Morecambe Rally and Daily Express. Afterwards he drove a Morris Minor in the 1954 RAC, and for 1955 the MG ZA Magnette as a member of the factory team, and ran in the Monte Carlo the same year, along with the RAC Rally. He competed successfully in these major events, and his first-hand account of what it was like to be a part of that "golden age" of rallying makes fascinating reading. The content of the book also offers an invaluable record for anyone interested in historic rallying and a record of Len Shaw’s Major competition achievements along with: An insight into the pre war motor sport scene. An insider's view of international rallying in the 1950’s. Route details and rally paperwork is reproduced. Well-illustrated by period photographs. Y-type, Morris Minor and Z-Magnette models explored in detail. A short history of the Hagley and District Light Car Club. Limited Edition of 750 copies.
