From the birth of the four cylinder Ferrari engine in 1951, this book records its development and model changes over the years, with coverage of the various cars in which they were used, or in the case of some of the latter engines, the test beds in which they ran. A fine selection of period images, have been used to illustrate the book, along with a number of sectional cut away drawings, for a variety of engines and component images such as conrods. The designs covered are: 625F1, 500F2, 553F2, 700, 735S, 625 TF-S, 625 F1, 553 F1 ‘Squalo’, 500 Mondial, 500 Mondial 2nd Series, 750 Monza, 500-625/750 FL, 625 F1, 555 F1 ‘Supersqualo’, 857S 860 Monza (354S), 555/860 FL, 500 TR, 500 TRC, 625 LM, 625 Tasman, 854, 950, 1000, and 030. Technical specification details are listed, and there is coverage of the cars to which these engines were installed, though it is the engine which is the main focus of the photographs. Also recorded are details of the major period races entered by the Grand Prix cars, and coverage of the sports car events in which the cars/engines were raced. The last pages of the book present a compiled list of sports car frame numbers for the 625 TF-S, 625 LM, 625 TRC, 500 Mondial 1st and 2nd Series, 750 Monza, 857S-860 Monza, 500 TR, 500 TRC. Edition of 1200 books.
