Without doubt the most impressive period in Lotus’ history. Jim Clark and Colin Chapman forged a partnership that produced a succession of Grand Prix Wins and two World Championships, plus Wins at the Indianapolis 500 and many small sports car victories including the Nurburgring 1000 kms against the might of far superior (on paper) competition. Equally competitive in Formula Junior, Formula 2 and Formula 3 and who will ever forget the Lotus Cortina three-wheeling all over the place on route to its usual victory. Graham Hill returned to the team in 1967 and held the team together for more wins and another World Championship after Jim Clark was killed in a comparatively minor Formula 2 race in Germany. All this and the start of Formula Ford gave Lotus a rather busy time in those memorable days of the Sixties. An array of excellent photographs support an equally fine text from a well respected author.
