An Illustrated History of The Bentley Car

In this book W.O. Bentley, the inspiration behind the Bentley car and the man who was responsible for its design and racing triumphs, presents a visual summary of the life of the car bearing his name. With the aid of more than 200 photographs, drawings, diagrams and reprint of period sales catalogues, he takes the reader through the Bentley works, shop by shop, revealing the remarkable attention to detail that accounted for many of the Bentley’s unique qualities. He provides a technical resume of the cars themselves, from 3 litre to 8 litre, accompanies the reader to Le Mans and to Brooklands and other sporting venues, and recalls some of the Royal and distinguished customers who added glitter to the sporting image. Finally, there is a personally conducted tour around Surrey, with ‘speed’ shots taken by photographer Klemantaski, in Brian Morgan’s magnificently restored Speed Six, emphasising once again the car’s enduring qualities and the affection still lavished on it.
